About the College

Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing, established in 2008 in Jammu, is the first institution to offer the B.Sc Nursing course in the Jammu Province. The college is run by the Rajiv Gandhi Educational Society (Reg. No. 1828-S of 1992).

Observing an acute shortage of trained professionals in the Nursing and Paramedical fields within the state, the college was founded to address this critical gap. With its dedicated focus on professional training, Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing is proud to contribute significantly to bridging the manpower shortage in the healthcare sector.

The college is affiliated with the University of Jammu—a prestigious institution established in 1969 and rated ‘A+’ by NAAC, UGC, Govt. of India. For clinical training, the college is associated with Govt. Medical College Hospital Jammu and its affiliated hospitals, including the Super Specialty Hospital and ASCOMS Medical College.

The institution also facilitates industrial and hospital visits to enhance student exposure. Graduates of the college enjoy 100% placement in reputed hospitals and healthcare organizations.

Our Philosophy

Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing believes that nursing is a profession of excellence in service, education, and administration. We uphold the dignity of every individual, irrespective of background or belief. We believe that nursing education should be community-need based, fostering critical judgment in delivering care across preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative levels.

Objectives of the Nursing Programme

  • 1. To provide opportunities which would enable the student to function as an effective individual.
  • 2. To prepare a professional and technically skilled nurse, competent to give a comprehensive nursing care to individuals, families and communities in sickness and health.
  • 3. To prepare the student with guidance to take up leadership position in the teaching and the nursing practice in hospitals and community health agencies.
  • 4. To provide the opportunities and experiences which would enable the student to develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationship with professional and nonprofessional personnel.
  • 5. To provide the student with knowledge and learning experience which would enable him/her as a nurse to function with increasing ability as an effective citizen and a representative of his/her profession.
  • 6. To provide those experience and opportunities which would enable and motivate the nurse to enlarge his/her capacity for his/her own professional growth and to contribute towards the improvement and growth of nursing.
